The Joy of Pioneering With Jesus. This week's message comes from Philippians chapter 1, verses 12-14. Paul is writing to the Philippians from his jail cell in Rome. Even through his suffering, he can celebrate the influence his commitment to the gospel has made. His brethren in evangelism developed confidence and courage from Paul's willingness to suffer the bonds of chains for the gospel message! Pastor Gene helps us to se the pioneering spirit in Paul that we all should have.

The Joy of Praying For Others. Pastor Gene shares a great message of joy that we can receive when we learn to pray for others. As Paul shared in these scriptures from the book of Philippians, there is a joy he received as he prayed for God's love to grow in the hearts of the Philippian believers. He prayed for their discernment and that they would receive good knowledge and understanding.

We were unable to worship together corporately because of Hurricane Irene. We know that many of our members prayed and praised God at home. After the storm we thanked God for His love and protection!

We continue in the book of Philippians with this week's message: The Joy of Serving. There are only two offices described in the New Testament for churches: the Pastor and the Deacon. Here's what Pastor Gene says about the deacon office:

Deacons serve with the Pastors [and staff] to help meet needs, physical and spiritual, within the fellowship of the church. They serve to protect the church, the Pastor(s) and staff, to uphold the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the doctrines of the faith, as taught in the Scriptures.

As we dedicate a man to be our newest deacon, we remember that his wife will serve beside him. This is not a position of pride or elevation in the church, but a position of servitude. Listen or watch this encouraging sermon!

Our new interim pastor, Dr. Gene Primm shared in message this week. He has helped us to understand the spiritual battleground our mind is and the spiritual fight for ownership. The message comes from 1 Corinthians chapter 10, verses 12-13. Here is what Dr. Primm shared:

  • We need to know how the battle begins. We are tempted when: (1) we think we can stand on our own, (2) we think we are invincible and (3) we think we cannot fall.
  • The battle is waged when (1) we love the things of the world and (2) when we are tempted by the lust of the eyes, the lust of theflesh and the boastful pride of life
  • The battle is won by: (1) the faithfulness of God, (2) the protection from God, (3) the example of the Son, Jesus and (4) the "escape plan" by the Holy Spirit of God.
  • How do we fight this battle? by: (1) prayerfully tearing down the strongholds in our minds, (2) prayerfully confessing and asking the Holy Spirit to cover the memories of the past, and (3) prayerfully and truly inviting Jesus into your life as Savior and Lord.

  • The Energy Department   Ephesians 3:16: "...to be strengthened with might through His Spirit."
  • The Interior Department   Ephesians 3:16: "...in the inner man."
  • The Department of Housing   Ephesians 3:17: "that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith"
