What happens when a rocket is sent on its way just one degree off center? By the time it reaches its target, it could be miles off course. That's what can happen in our Christian walk. We can be off center by one degree: a small, unseemingly distracting temptation that followed through, could cause major consequences. That's the message we heard this week from Dr. Jeff Ginn, executive director and treasurer of the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia (SBCV). We thank Dr. Ginn for joining us this week!

Are you in the middle of a storm in your life? Just like the disciples in the boat in the middle of a storm on the Sea of Galilee, you can feel like death is imminent. You can think there is nothing that will save you. You can wonder why God is letting all these terrible things happen to you. But just like the disciples, Jesus is always with you. He will weather the storm with you. He may not take you out of the storm, but he will help you through the storm. We thank Reverend Bounds for joining us again this week!

The church is the bride. Is she ready for the bridegroom (Jesus)? Does the bride have that special intimacy with Christ that is unique to the marriage bond? This week we were blessed with a message by our SBCV ministry leader, David Bounds. David leads us into greater intimacy with Christ as he teaches from 2 Corinthians chapter 11.

This week our scripture passage is Acts chapter 5, the story of the meeting between the Ethiopian official and Peter. The lesson? What is the difference between the "calling" and the "command?" We are all commanded to share the gospel. But we are called to do it differently. Peter was called to go to this official and commanded to share the good news of salvation to him.

We continue our series in the book of Acts. This week our scripture passage is Acts chapter 4, verses 23-31. The disciples who began the first church were united. This unity included:

  • fellowship
  • prayer
  • recognizing God's authority
  • cause and
  • experience
As a church family, we should also be united as the first church was.

We were blessed to have former TSBC pastor, Reverend Steve Bradshaw fill our pulpit this Sunday. What was on his mind to share with us? the three 'L's of friendship:

  • Love
  • Lay
  • Live
Rev. Steve shared two videos that exemplified relationships and the importance and legacy you can leave with others by developing relationships. The most important dynamic of friendship? Sacrifice.

As we look at the lives of the disciples after Jesus was taken again to heaven, we see eleven men who had weaknesses and strengths. Some of th weaknesses were:

  • a fundamental misunderstanding of God's plan
  • distractions from the plan
  • and they tried to get ahead of God's plan
But they also had great strengths as the Holy Spirit provided great knowledge, courage and an ovewhelming power to complete the task! Again, this week Pastor Bill gives us insights into the scriptures in this great book of the Bible.
