From Pastor Gene's Heart and Study
Believe it or not, we are on the edge of the Holiday Season. It is only weeks from Thanksgiving and only a few weeks from Christmas and the celebration of Jesus' birth. We may as well believe it because there is "not nothing" we can do to change it. So that means to enjoy every minute of it.
This year Thanksgiving is very special as we welcome new members into the fellowship of TSBC. What a wonderful day of celebration for New Testament Believer's Baptism on October 30. We rejoice with those who were obedient to Jesus' command to be immersed, giving testimony of the newfound faith they have in Him and sharing what Christ did for each one of them in saving them eternally. It is our joy to also welcome them into the membership of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. We are equally thrilled to welcome those who have come from other churches into our church family. As new believers discover their spiritual gift(s), they add to the importance and power to reach out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Thanksgiving for Cindy and me this year takes on new meaning as we are able to share the praise and worship with all who make up this church family. It is a blessing to be with you and to join with you in celebrating this time of year in gratitude to our Lord for His blessings.
We are thankful for the renovation of the kitchen in the Family Life Center. As TSBC is known for its food preparation and meals served, for all who use the kitchen this renewal of the facility is going to make that work easier and more efficient. While we miss the Wednesday night dinners, they will soon begin again. Fasting and waiting may be a good thing, for a while, but it will be good to have the new kitchen available to meet our dietary needs in the New Year. Thank you Kitchen Renewal Committee for moving forward in this most needed re-construction.
Our Music Ministry is rehearsing now for the Christmas Musical. You still have time to join the choir for this very fresh music presentation entitled, "Light Looked Down." The evenings of Saturday and Sunday, December 17th and 18th are the dates for the musical gift to be given to remind us all that the Word, Jesus the Son of God, became flesh and dwelt among us.
A reminder that "Sincerely Jude" will be here in a free concert on Saturday night, November 12 at 7:00 pm. We will need "hand" food (bigger than finger food) for the intermission in the FLC. This is something for every age group in the church and community.
Please enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving! Be sure to praise God for His
Many Blessings,
Pastor Gene and Cindy
